Due to this new things were being built in the city and many black neighborhoods and communities were being taken away. Also all the jobs were going to the white people of the community. The african americans were not getting fair treatment. Crowds gathered and and became hostile. Troops and police had to be brought in to calm things down. Many damage was done. People were killed, and there were over 50 million dollars in damage. President Johnson said that he would work on equal rights but did not stay true to what he said.
